Primary Purpose: Abstracts demographic and clinical data from patient records, codes, and inputs data into database. Prepares biweekly, monthly and annual statistical reports. Abstracts/retrieves data from database for research projects, quality management, financial and utilization studies. Performs quality control checks to ensure accuracy consistency, and quality of data. Audits patient records for physician charges. Typing, spreadsheets, graphs, charts, tables. Maintains file systems, copy work, maintains supply inventory. Provides back-up for other employees which includes filing probate affidavits and downloading dictated physician progress notes for patient records.

Qualifications

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Years of Experience:  1 to 2 years of health care experience preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge:  Ability to read, write, and perform general mathematical functions.  Experience working with Microsoft Office products.  Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
