Summary

The Battery Lab, a research core under the College of Engineering's Electric Vehicle Center, is seeking a temporary database developer to design a system that tracks manufacturing details with products via multiple spreadsheets, assigns a serial number and barcode, and then syncs this information with cloud-based service. New data input sheets may need to be developed. With the Lab Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a database to gather, store, and communicate this information, as well as overseeing the database design and implementation process. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of database design and development principles.

Responsibilities*

? Design database systems for the Battery Lab. This includes collecting data, analyzing the data, designing algorithms, drawing flowcharts and implementing code for the logic developed through the algorithms and flowcharts.

? Test databases. Run performance testing procedures to ensure the proper operations of a database and to ensure that it?s error-free. If any errors are thrown when the code runs, they need to be corrected and the code needs to be re-tested. This involves troubleshooting any potential problems, creating and submitting test reports and database improvement.

? Develop database documentation. As a database is developed, write documentation about the system and put together an operational manual.

? Work with the Lab Director and staff, once the databases are ready, to integrate the modules together.

Required Qualifications*

?  Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

?  Proven experience with database design and development

?  In-depth knowledge and experience with Excel/Access.

?  Able to analyze and troubleshoot complex database issues

?  Excellent problem-solving skills

?  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
