Position Description

Over the past three years, the Data Architecture team at Harvard Medical School has been building a data warehouse for Administrative and Education data (Delphi).  Delphi currently draws from more than 40 data sources and serves as a data hub for the medical school.  Delphi incorporates a Data Lake and a Kimball Style Data Mart with Master Data Management.

The DA team is currently looking for an ETL Developer to design and build data flows in and out of Delphi.  Our ETL framework currently executes well over 1,000 SSIS packages a day, pulling data from a variety of database types, from files, and from APIs.  And we continue to grow.

Candidates must have strong experience with SQL and SSIS.  Candidates should understand Kimball data models and should have the ability to navigate unfamiliar databases.  Our ETL Developers collaborate with Data Architects and BI Developers for requirements and QA.


Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5 years of SQL Development experience on a variety of databases – SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc…
  • 2 years of SSIS development experience.
  • SQL performance tuning expertise.
  • Bonus Experience:

  • SQL Server DBA skills.
  • Windows Server sysadmin skills.
  • Semarchy experience
  • SSRS experience.
  • Tableau experience.

  • Additional Information

    This position is based in Boston, but the work may be done fully or primarily remote. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT).
