Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Data Scientist– Boca Raton, FL.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis at Florida Atlantic University has an exciting opportunity for a full time Data Scientist. At FAU, we rely on insightful data to power our systems and solutions. We’re seeking an experienced data scientist to deliver insights on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

• Research and devise innovative machine learning and statistical models for analyzing student/employee data.
• Be responsible for all stages of data science and statistical modeling projects.
• Collaborate with administrators, faculty and staff on analyzing and reporting institutional data.
• Complete external surveys for the university (IPEDS, U.S. News, College Board, etc.).
• Provide data extract files and ad hoc reports in response to internal and external inquiries.
• Develop Power BI dashboards such as enrollment, admission, degrees, student surveys, etc.
• Present the analysis and results to a varied audience, explaining the technical and domain-specific elements.
• Research new data science developments and how they apply to institutional research.
• Other job related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience.
Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis required.
Advanced experience with SQL, Power BI, Excel, and at least one programming languages (ex: Python, Java, R) required.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group required.
Preferred Qualification:
Three years of experience in Data Science related field.

Salary:

$70,000 - $75,000 per year.
Full-time, Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)
