Summary
This position is located within IQuESt, the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety. We are the largest center for Health Services Research within the Southwest. We conduct high-quality scientific research that improves the health of patients across the nation, by helping to ensure the patient-centered delivery of scientific discoveries. We are seeking a qualitative data scientist to collaborate on research projects involving evaluation, implementation science, quality improvement and health systems research.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing and supporting qualitative research projects, developing guides to facilitate qualitative data collection, conducting interviews, focus groups, observational work, and analyzing qualitative data for publication in peer-reviewed journal or presenting to target audience. Candidates should be familiar with a variety of qualitative analytical approaches including, but not limited to, grounded theory, thematic analyses, rapid or matrix analyses, analysis of interviews, focus groups and ethnographic fieldnotes. The position requires excellent communication skills, and working directly with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, research coordinators, data managers, biostatisticians, fellows and students.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties
- Completes statistical and qualitative analyses on new and available data sets.
- Collates evaluation data and other quantitative and qualitative data sources.
- Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results including technical reports, summaries, protocols and qualitative analyses.
- Processes research information for easier consumption and transforms it into actionable plans.
- Provides statistical and data management support to institutional research.
- Contributes to evidence-based processes and procedures for program quality review and assessment of outcome data.
- Develops systems, processes and procedures for timely data collection.
- Assists faculty in executing research projects that promote continuous quality improvement.
- Participates in regular progress meetings with clinical collaborators (multiple times a week) face to face or via on-line meeting software. This may include working on-site.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in statistics, science, mathematics or related field.
- Five years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in qualitative field such as anthropology, sociology or psychology
- Expertise in ATLAS.ti or NVivo
- Experience participating in the research process in an academic setting
