Job Summary
The Markey Cancer Center is hiring for a Data Scientist II. This position will be able to turn data into community-facing data summaries that allow the Markey Cancer Center to effectively deliver data-focused information to those living in the Commonwealth. This person will be able to present large amounts of information in ways that are universally understandable or easy to interpret, drawing on statistical knowledge in which s/he can identify patterns, trends, and correlations. This person should be able to integrate data from multiple sources and transform these data into creative infographics, graphs, charts, or other pictorial diagrams.
The Data Scientist II will perform data analysis, statistical analysis, presentation of research data, data management, and provide solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of datasets and independent research projects, including design of research protocols for the proper collection, verification, and management of data. This person will also test hypotheses in support of research and product offerings and communicate findings in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to project stakeholders.
This position requires critical thinking skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills both written and oral, and the ability to work with large amounts of information and see the “bigger picture.”
This position is eligible for a Hybrid work arrangement.

Knowledge of advance data visualization techniques. Experience using Tableau, ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, etc. to visually communicate data findings. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
