Data Science Assistant Intern

AIR is seeking a Data Science Assistant Intern to join our Technology Solutions Team during our 2024 Virtual Summer Internship Program. Our cross-cutting Technology Solutions team provides technical expertise and solutions by focusing on responsive service and flexibility in delivery. Our collaborative, learning-oriented team works worldwide in a flexible working environment, towards the mission of making the world a better, more equitable place. 

 

AIR’s 2024 Virtual Summer Internship Program is designed to identify, attract, and hire the best collegiate talent that will drive creativity and innovation while enabling the organization to create a diverse and skilled talent pool. Spanning 10 – 12 weeks, AIR’s paid summer program provides Interns with various learning and networking opportunities that enhance their skillset and build lasting professional connections.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

The responsibilities for the position include: 

  • Support efforts to collect, compile, and validate data using Python or R programming languages
  • Support quantitative and/or qualitative analysis using standard statistical techniques and methods
  • Support with data analysis and data preparation
  • Transform, clean, and visualize data from a variety of sources
  • Work on moderately complex assignments under indirect supervision
  • Communicate project support needs and requests to senior management and clientele, provide administrative support where applicable
  • Maintain and check the accuracy of data for assigned projects
  • Utilize external resources to supplement, organize, and contribute to tasks and projects


Education, Knowledge, and Experience: 

  • Must be a current student seeking a bachelor’s degree in quantitative or related field (e.g., quantitative social science, math, computer science, statistics, or economics)
  • Must be a student enrolled in a bachelor's degree program for the duration of the internship to be eligible
  • Experience with R or Python programming languages
  • Experience with the statistical package STATA is a plus but not required
  • Experience with database software (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL Server) is a plus but not required

 Skills: 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with individual from diverse backgrounds and at all levels
  • Comfortable working in a virtual work environment

 

Disclosures:

 

 Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

This position offers $25.00 per hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the organization and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the salary for candidates that are based in the United States.
