Description

The Department of Surgery is seeking to find a full time Research Data Analyst I to assist with the development of documentation and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and assist with statistical analysis to support Quality databases for the Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Divisions. In this role you will work with Director and Surgeons on many registries including collecting, entering data and analysis with regulatory deadlines. 

Third party agencies rely on data for contracts, public reporting, and benchmarks. Some of these agencies are listed here: U. S. News & World Report Best Hospitals, Leap Frog, Mitral Valve reference Center, Doximity, HCAI California state mandatory CABG reporting, ELSO, STS Audit, Thoracic and Congenital Heart surgery, ACC TVT & Mitra Clip, and AATS. The Data collection work you would do in this role is for several UCLA and affiliate hospitals. It is also important to meet our Public Reporting needs and STAR Hospital Rating project. In this role you will capture data for completeness and provide 30 day follow up to make sure these projects are complete. This position also assists with other quality projects that are assigned by the surgeons, assist with multidisciplinary meeting planning and agenda as well as taking minutes. Work may also consist of assistance with over 40 data requests a year for publications, research, both internally and externally for QI projects from surgeons, nurses and ICU staff. The data collected are used for UC Cardiac Surgery Consortium, MOVERS, Clinical Excellence meetings and ongoing QI projects such as LOS, early Extubation, 30 day readmission and decrease Atrial Fibrillation all that help to improve patient care and patient satisfaction.

Pay Range: $28.78 – $59.34 hourly. 



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • High school degree AND demonstrated experience in programming, statistics, data management, and data analysis.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in programming, statistics, data management, database design 
  • Basic knowledge of statistics. 
  • Knowledge of basic and/or multivariate statistics.
  • Knowledge of research design. 
  • Ability to conceptualize and construct tables and graphs.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical and/or medical terminology.
  • Basic ability to summarize statistical analyses for collaborator.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques.
  • Ability to utilize database management software to run queries and extract data.
  • Ability to construct databases.
  • Ability to produce visual tools and dashboards that highlight the essential information from a project or study.
  • Knowledge of basic office software and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Internet search engines, etc.).
  • Ability to learn new statistical techniques and to adapt existing code to customize statistical analysis strategies.
