Position Summary

The New Mexico Center for Health Policy in the College of Population Health is seeking a Data Manager to oversee several large data sets on projects dedicated to serving and working with New Mexican and Native American communities across the State.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Expertise in database and project management programs, to include SAS, Python, Excel, RedCap, and Tableau.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with health services research and evaluation.
  • Integrity and professionalism.
  • The ability to see the big picture and simultaneously attend to smaller details.
  • Diplomacy, resourcefulness, responsiveness and flexibility.

This position requires both independence and team-work.  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  •  Process, clean, and prepare Medicaid claims data for analysis
  • Build relational databases for analyses
  • Process, clean, and prepare monthly Medicaid data as it is received
  • Responsible for data oversight, including database development and maintenance, data entry and quality assurance, data queries and reporting to local and national stakeholders
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Responsible for project tracking systems and logistics
  • Creation of infographics and maps
  • Assist and advise with project implementation, training, and evaluation
  • Responsible for program metrics, reporting and data compliance
  • Assist with meeting facilitation, outreach, and grant writing as needed
  • Provide presentations and training to large audiences of diverse internal and external constituents
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Use of SAS and python for data cleaning and preparation
  • Demonstrated problem solving, prioritizing, and planning skills
  • Excellent customer service and team-based skills.
  • Self-directed; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated skills in multitasking, preparing reports, problem-solving, and analyzing program, university, and/or other program requirements
