Job Summary


The Data Management Analyst I collects, prepares and/or analyzes research and/or other complex statistical data for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). Supports, develops, and maintains administrative data and reporting requirements.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Collects, analyzes and interprets administrative data for the ORSP.
  • Develops and utilizes specified software, instruments and methods for analysis, interpretation, evaluation and quality control of research or operational data.
  • Serves as a data access steward and resource for platforms for proposal and research integrity data systems, including but not limited to Access, Streamlyne, and Workday.
  • Collects, summarizes, and/or analyzes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports and data driven decision making.
  • Assists ORSP with required reporting for grants and sponsored programs.
  • Develops, documents, and maintains processes and procedures for data quality and integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with guidelines for statistical reporting, analysis, and predictions governed by unit procedures, processes, and manuals.
  • Collaborates with other institutional departments to create and maintain ORSP data standards and reporting.
  • Updates, maintains, and monitors the ORSP website

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements for a Data Management Analyst Level I:


  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Minimum Requirements for a Data Management Analyst Level II:


  • This position requires either eight years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results in a concise format.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to think critically and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.

Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Data Management Analyst Level I or Data Management Analyst Level II based on their qualifications.
