SALARY: $22.00 - $34.74/HR

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Manage the operations of department specific database and information systems. Develop, implement, and modify systems and processes to better align business need with strategic directives. Oversee the maintenance of internal database files, tables, and records as well as the development of custom analytical reports. Serve as the functional owner of department specific information systems and partner with leadership to deliver executive reports, develop analytical expertise, and provide consulting support. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop, facilitate, implement, and keep current best-in-class database and information system technology solutions specific to department. Develop and maintain a database to track and monitor data collection.  Prepare department specific statistical summaries and reports. Recommend new methods for collection and documentation of data. Revise procedural manuals as needed.  Assist in training of staff and in developing training materials.  Maintain departmental statistics for internal reporting and external benchmarking.  Communicate operational, technical, and logistical departmental issues with IT and contact vendors as appropriate.  Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.  May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of data administration and analysis including software application testing, development, and implementation.  Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping systems, budget projections, analyzing trends, management software, and websites is necessary.  May require knowledge of payroll systems, Powerchart, or CBORD patient nutrition software.  Above average problem solving and communication skills, function as a self-starter with initiative to pay attention to detail, and demonstrate follow through on issues. Knowledge of or willingness to learn fundamentals of coding CPT/HCPCS, ICD-9 and/or ICD-10, DRG’s and APC’s is required.  Computer proficiency with MS Office, denials management software, hospital billing systems, and third party payer systems and websites is necessary. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Administrative supervision is received from the assigned manager. 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Make work assignments and review clerical work; assist in training of new personnel.

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree in computer science, accounting, business administration, finance, health related professions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.  Two (2) years of experience as a data technician, or equivalent knowledge with related software, research, or data analysis skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree in computer science, accounting, business administration, finance, health related professions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.  Two (2) years of experience as a data technician, or equivalent knowledge with related software, research, or data analysis skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as a data technician within a hospital or clinic environment.  Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
