Job Description

The Data Governance Analyst is a member of the Data Enablement team, part of the Analytics Center of Excellence. This position contributes to ongoing development of the medical center’s data governance program, serving as its primary data catalog administrator, managing vast amounts of metadata, fostering the engagement of key stakeholders, and providing analytics support.  This position and the data catalog are critical to creating broad internal visibility to approved data sets and dashboards.  In addition, the Analyst drives standardization of data definitions and metric calculations which assures consistency in reporting, leading to clearer insights and thus improvement in patient care and business operations.

Responsibilities of this position include working closely with University leads on technical administration of the data catalog, managing enterprise metadata in collaboration with subject matter experts, monitoring the quality and compliance of the data catalog, and providing analytics and program development support for other data governance initiatives.  

This position maintains productive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders from business units across the enterprise, within a wide variety of data domains, including clinical, financial, operational, regulatory and more.   The Analyst provides training and support for data stewards and serves as a metadata subject matter resource.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or a related field.  Degree specific to health information management preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in data management, analytics, reporting and/or other data-intensive position.  Experience working with healthcare data preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, data profiling, and data quality assessment techniques, including working knowledge of SQL, Tableau, and MS Office.  Experience with other data catalogs, Epic and/or Workday preferred.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy, with experience using workflow methods that reduce error.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Clear understanding of privacy and security regulations and practices when working with healthcare data.
  • General understanding of data governance principles, concepts, and best practices.
