Job Summary
Where Creating the Best Hope for a Healthier Future Begins...
Interviews research subjects, primarily in the field. Collects data. Records data for various health studies.
Study will conduct monitoring of ambient air for metal particulate matter (PM) in the vicinity of four metal recycler facilities in communities in Houston, TX. PM is defined as an aerosol comprised of airborne material of various sizes and chemical compositions. PM may be monitored for total mass, for individual micron size ranges, or analyzed for composition. This monitoring is conducted as part of a research project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).
This is a grant funded, casual position.
Additional Summary Specific to Job
Incumbents in this role will be hired to:
Contact study participants to schedule interviews in the research study, usually by telephone.
Interview and establish rapport with study participants in order to encourage complete accurate responses and continuing participation in the study. Works in the field, either going to homes or places of business or at specified exercise areas.
Decide on methods of tracking participants, conduct interviews, and determine whether callbacks are necessary to get further information while coding. Conduct basic analysis of data. Codes and edits information for research projects for entry into database.
Handle administrative details (ex. time and effort reports, mileage reports). Other duties as assigned
Organizational Requirements
High School Diploma/Equivalent with a minimum of two years related experience with emphasis on public contact. Trained by project manager or principal on techniques to interview, complete questionnaires, and operate equipment. May need to be bilingual.  
Departmental Requirements/Preferences
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of MS Office and statistical software such as SAS and STATA.
Salary Range
Commensurate with experience  
This position works with Houston Independent School District (H.I.S.D.) students.
This position works with minors under the age of 18 years.
This position will be working in a laboratory or clinic
