DATA ASSESSMENT ASSISTANT, Office of Minority Education (OME)-Interphase EDGE/x (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to collect and analyze data from Interphase EDGE/x participants (both in-person and virtual cohorts). Interphase EDGE/x is a summer enrichment and academic year program, with participants joining the program shortly after admittance to MIT as first years and before their matriculation in the fall.  Interphase EDGE/x is a seven-week summer session, with the EDGE cohort being on campus for all seven weeks, and EDGE x cohort participating virtually for the first five weeks and on campus for the last two. Scholars in both cohorts take classes that are designed to help incoming first-years get acquainted with academics at MIT while building community and participating in non-academic group projects/workshops.  Will organize and moderate the Belonging Intervention program, an event where past alumni of Interphase speak of their experience at MIT and beyond; create surveys and conduct interviews throughout the summer with the scholars in both cohorts, and analyze and assesses the data; and compile and present a summary of all data for both cohorts in the fall semester.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; five years’ experience in data collection and analysis and higher education; meticulous attention to detail; ability to identify and analyze issues in collaboration with staff at all levels; knowledge of or willingness to learn the issues, best practices, and current research in teaching and learning in higher education and data assessment and analysis; excellent presentation and oral and written communication skills; and advanced-level computer skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Slack, etc.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree and working knowledge of OME and MIT.  Job #22252-5

Hiring range:  $25.00 – 27.00/hour, based on experience

Schedule:  Part-time (20 hrs/wk.) schedule to be determined, with flexibility needed depending on the workload.  Attendance at evening events (virtually or in person, primarily during the summer) should be anticipated.

This position is primarily remote, with the potential for some in-person meetings and events.

Timeframe: February 2023 to December 2023, with the possibility of extension
