What we want

The Graduate and Professional School is seeking a Data Analyst to join our dynamic team charged with advocating for graduate education at Texas A&M. The Data Analyst will coordinate and complete various data reports, analysis, and assessments for the Graduate and Professional School as well as provide analytical support for our leadership team. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with end-users and technical staff from Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) to effectively deliver enhancements, upgrades, and patches to the managed applications within EIS. This includes the management and improvement of a graduate academic requirements completion system. Our team is seeking an individual with a range of experiences, including expertise in data queries from multiple data sources, ERP implementation, student information systems, Ellucian Banner, custom software management and testing, and training or customer support. Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for building Tableau dashboards, conducting data collection, analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, writing technical and summary reports or presentations, creating infographics, as well as independently completing ad-hoc requests for the data reports for internal or external stakeholders. Preferred qualifications for the role include proficiency in SQL queries, experience in the use of Banner, Microsoft Access, and Excel, as well as use of software such as Tableau, SPSS, and ATLAS.TI.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience in data collection and analysis and using data management information systems.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work individually and work cooperatively with others in a dynamic organization.

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines as well as maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. 

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Master’s Degree 

  • More than two years of professional experience in data query (e.g., SQL), data management, and data analysis work.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency knowledge and experience in SQL queries.

  • Experience in the use of Banner, Microsoft Access, and Excel, as well as use of software such as Tableau, SPSS, and ATLAS.TI.

  • Ability to create infographics and write technical reports.

  • Familiarity with relational database design and modern data warehousing techniques.

Essential Duties/Tasks

  • Management and Improvement of Graduate Academic Requirements Completion System (ARCS) as well as Other Applications Support -Assist with the communication to identify gaps between the graduate academic requirements completion system (ARCS) and other EIS managed applications and the end-users’ needs. Assist programming staff to improve and manage the graduate academic requirements completion system to ensure the functional requirements are met. Assist with the use of Ellucian software and development plans for other EIS managed applications which will support future Graduate and Professional School projects. Serves as point of contact on certain data mining and reporting projects.

  • Performing Data Queries and Data Cleaning - Assist with pulling data from Compass Report. Conduct data queries and data mining, and summarized data into reports for supporting internal and external needs. Serves as point of contact on certain data mining and reporting projects.  Assist with pulling data, conducting data queries, data mining and summarizing data into reports for supporting internal and external needs.

  • Analyzing Data and Developing the Technical Reports/Data Visualization Results - Assist with Senior Data Analyst and independently complete planned and ad-hoc requests for data reports from university department directors, academic units, and others. Provide detailed analyses of quantitative and qualitative data as well as summarize the analyzed reports/papers. Create data visualization reports. Prepares, maintains, and presents historical and comparative data.
