Glimpse of the Job and Opportunity to Contribute

The Department of Academic and Performance Analytics (ABPA) provides various reports and data for faculty and students. ABPA is responsible for state and national reporting, maintains the Texas A&M Accountability website, and is developing an academic services data warehouse for student data from the Registrar, Admissions and Financial Aid.  We’re hiring a Data Analyst - someone who is interested in exploring this career path - and a Lead Data Analyst who has demonstrated proficiency and advanced skills.

The outcomes include (but are not limited to):

  • Reporting using SQL
  • Creating and maintaining dashboards using Tableau
  • Surveys
  • Creating Data Storage Structures

Hybrid Work Option: Due to the nature of this position, a hybrid work arrangement may be available.

Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications for Data Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of experience with data collection and analysis
  • Prefer general experience in data management, data dashboard creation, SQL and statistical and analytical skills

Skills for Data Analyst

  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to make independent judgments and communicate well with a wide variety of people
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and customer service

Qualifications for Lead Data Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of experience building data dashboards, SQL scripting or similar programming background
  • Prefer information technology experience

Skills for Lead Data Analyst

  • Ability to interpret data requests, determine most appropriate tool for writing the report, and prepare end product for customer.
  • Ability to create reports based on user specifications
  • Prefer Knowledge of software such as Tableau and Cognos
  • Ability to make independent judgments and communicate well with a wide variety of people
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and customer service
