Job Overview

The Data Analyst works within the Office of Assessment within Georgetown’s School of Medicine , providing support to oversee data collection, perform data analyses, interpret complex data sets to extract insights, and generate reports to support the School of Medicine’s curricular functions including decision-making. 

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to overseeing evaluation and assessment systems/processes, including curriculum evaluations, faculty teaching evaluations, and workplace-based assessments of student performance; and managing data, including data access, collation, analyses, interpretation, and reporting. 

As well, they have a key role in helping the school monitor and ensure an equitable learning environment for all learners, including equitable access to learning opportunities and equitable assessment outcomes.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Assessment and Educational Scholarship, the Data Analyst works with both the Senior Associate Dean and the Office of Medical Education to identify data requirements and optimal reporting strategies for continuous quality improvement. 

Within the Office of Assessment, they work with an Evaluation/Assessment Coordinator to help support students, faculty, and staff with data requests - and with a Data and Technology Specialist to help identify and address data warehousing/database system needs and data visualization/data reporting tool needs.  

The Data Analyst also helps to identify data and data collection needs and provides summary data and data analysis results to other units in the School of Medicine Dean’s Office and to student education units within MedStar and other clinical partners. 

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of experience as a Data Analysist or similar role working with both data and data management
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SPSS
  • Proficiency with survey tools such as Qualtrics
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques, such as hypothesis testing and regression analysis
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate findings into clear concise reports for various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with narrative and qualitative data analysis tools - e.g. , LIWC, Dedoose
  • Experience working with data analytics/reporting tools such as Cognos
  • Experience with data visualization tools - e.g. , Tableau, Power BI
