Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Finance Service Center of Excellence (SCE) serves approximately 2,000 staff within the Division of Finance and Operations (F&O) and the Division of Institutional Integrity and Risk Management (IIRM), a combined organization whose annual budget is more than $500 million. The Finance SCE was formed in 2015 and pulled together many disparate financial groups into one team to provide financial services to the Division. These financial and accounting services have a campus-wide impact through departmental billing, student fees, and education and general support services. The Finance SCE provides departmental purchasing and inventory accounting support, cost accounting, billing and disbursement services, business and financial systems support, and financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis for the F&O Division and Institutional Integrity & Risk Management.
Position Summary
Hybrid: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Dashboard Designer and Security Assistant (DDSA) is a member of the SCE data analytics and business and financial systems teams, and will be funding contingent. 
The DDSA supports data analytics and visualization efforts for Division of Finance and Operations and other major campus units the SCE supports. The DDSA develops dashboards to include finance, HR and operational information. DDSA develops technical specifications for reports and dashboards. The DDSA supports system improvement priorities and timelines and manages projects as assigned and appropriate. As requested, the DDSA researches and recommends new technology, processes, or features to advance existing offerings.
The DDSA also supports security and workflow for Office of the Chancellor, Division of Finance & Operations, VC IIRM, VC University Counsel and University Central Management. The DDSA assists with the semi-annual ConnectCarolina finance and student systems security audits.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s or Bachelor’s and 0-2 years experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with data analytics, data visualization and dashboard design, business intelligence and query tools. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand format. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to perform detailed root-cause analysis and resolution. Ability to contribute to discussions and meetings focused on problem-solving. 
Ability to interact with users of varying levels of expertise and to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service by responding to requests and providing support in a professional, accurate, and timely manner. Creative thinker with a focus on business process improvement and documentation. Attention to detail with ability to successfully manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
One to two years experience with data analytics and visualization software, with ERP and other business and financial systems; familiarity with University business processes and underlying accounting; familiarity with University Enterprise Data Warehouse finance and HR views; beginner to intermediate knowledge of Tableau or other comparable tool. 
Position must develop in-depth knowledge of the University’s financial security model and roles and working knowledge of InfoPorte and ConnectCarolina. Employee will also demonstrate critical thinking skills resulting in an ability to make independent decisions and understand when it’s necessary to ask for input and advice.
