Cybersecurity Hourly Instructor - Bootcamps

As an After-Hours & Weekend Cybersecurity Instructor at Hackbright Academy, you will be instrumental in teaching and guiding students through their learning experience. You will be expected to work closely with other Instructors and/or Teaching Assistants to review, critique, and help students with project work. The After-Hours & Weekend Cybersecurity Instructor will also ensure that students understand what they should be working on, accomplishing their project goals, and are understanding concepts taught in the curriculum.
** Must be able to work Tuesday/Thursday evenings 6pm - 9pm Central and Saturdays 10am - 1pm Central
** This position is a temporary position that will go from beginning of April to beginning of October.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and facilitate course content
  • Lead in-class exercises, project time, and participate in lecture discussions
  • Work with education staff to ensure quality and that the correct principles are being learned and applied
  • Participate in regular student reviews and critiques
  • Inspire students to move through the challenges of learning a new skill set. 
  • Work alongside the other instructional staff to best meet the needs and learning styles of students
  • Provide students with meaningful and prompt feedback on their progress

Job Skills:

  • Has the ability to facilitate an engaging lecture
  • Experience creating technical curriculum a plus
  • Experienced in concepts and skilled in all technologies within curricula, including: Operating system security, Network basics and security, Web application security, Cloud security, Incident response and forensics, Cryptography and cryptanalysis, Ethical hacking and penetration testing, Security compliance standards, TryHackMe labs, Kali Linux, security software programs
  • Stays up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies & tools
  • Is a proactive communicator, strives to be articulate in their speech towards students
  • Ability to give and take constructive feedback
  • Experience delivering lectures and lab exercises
  • Able to learn on the fly

Work Experience:

  • 1 years + in a cybersecurity position
  • 6 months + in education, mentoring, or training position

Education:

  • Self-taught, Bootcamp graduate, or equivalent degree

Certificates, licenses and registrations:

  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
  • CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or equivalent a plus
  • AWS Certified Security a plus

Other:

  • Must be able to work Tuesday/Thursday evenings 6pm - 9pm Central and Saturdays 10am - 1pm Central
  • Access information using a computer online
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain, in a remote work setting
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations
  • Strong mental acuity
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job
