Job Description

ASU, the leading innovator in Higher Education, seeks trained Cybersecurity professionals to join our team as key contributors to our evolving practice. Working in the Enterprise Technology Cybersecurity Core the successful candidate will contribute their drive, skill, and thoughtfulness to the safe and secure growth of emerging technologies, developing wide bridges interconnecting cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance practices with community members across the ASU Public Enterprise. This position will report to a Manager, Information Technology within ET.

As part of our strong and growing Cybersecurity Core, you will utilize your knowledge, training, and initiative to advance secure technologies in an uncertain and evolving future. You will be a subject matter expert on best practices in cybersecurity. You’ll gain experience in a large, complex Public Enterprise supporting faculty, staff, and learners throughout the world.

$77,595 - $136,459 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

The Cybersecurity Analyst, Senior will work as a key contributor in teams that defend against cyber threats, malware, and compromised systems impacting, or likely to, impact the Public Enterprise. They lead other analysts in investigations, incident response, network forensics, vulnerability remediation, architecture reviews, threat hunting, and red team exercises. 

They will work closely with teams across the Public Enterprise to build an understanding of the threat landscape specific to a large and complex technology environment. They will actively work towards improving processes and automating routine procedures. They will design and implement improvements to capabilities, to include tools, data, and methods for security operations. 

They will contribute leadership to other Cybersecurity professionals of varying backgrounds including coaching, mentoring, planning and executing on career development, and will be accountable for the quality and outcomes of their work.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Technology or related field OR 6 years of experience in information technology OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to face uncertainty and deliver outcomes independently
  • Evidence of professional experience securing Controlled Unclassified Information through operational cybersecurity, governance, risk management, and compliance
  • Evidence of academic and/or professional certifications in cybersecurity and/or governance, risk, and compliance (e.g., GSEC, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, GNFA, GPCS, GCSA, GDSA, CEH, CISSP)
  • Evidence of experience in security operations; detecting, responding to, and containing enterprise-wide threats
  • Demonstrated knowledge of controls, standards, policies, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to correlate activity across assets (endpoint, network, apps) and environments (on-premises, cloud) to identify patterns of anomalous activity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern system designs and architecture using cloud native and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with common cloud languages and orchestration  (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Git, Terraform)
  • Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive
  • Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment
  • Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
