Job Description


Leads the customer facing operations of the cash receipts and disbursement area of the Bursar's Office providing professional customer service to students, families, sponsors and university departments in person, by telephone and by email concerning student and university accounts, billing, scholarships, financial aid, outstanding and credit balances, payment activities and budget tuition plans. Responsible for ensuring identification of incoming payments and proper recording of revenue transactions in compliance with university procedures and guidelines. Schedules staff and distributes workload, ensuring completion of essential daily functions, daily close and deposit of cash receipts. Serves as custodian for vault, change fund, and receipts on hand.

Requires knowledge of policies and procedures across operations of the Bursar's Office and understanding of key areas such as Payroll, Financial Aid, Registration, Housing and Dining, Health Center and Veterans Services.


Required Qualifications

- A.S. or B.S. in accounting, business administration or similar or equivalent experience
- Experience with funds handling in a banking or similar environment, including preparing daily deposits, balancing a cash drawer and/or making change
- Experience supervising and managing team's workload to achieve deadlines
- Experience using general office equipment and computer software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of incoming and outgoing electronic funds transfer;|Knowledge of accounts receivable practices
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze, interpret and explain complex financial transactions
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve organizational goals and outcomes.


Preferred Qualifications

- B.S. in accounting, business administration or similar
- Experience supervising funds handling in a banking or similar environment
- Experience training staff to interpret and explain policies and procedures
- Experience utilizing Banner or similar relational database
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience of accounting and collection practices for receivables
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic banking principles and practices
- Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge and experience working with spreadsheets


Salary Information

Salary range of $53,000-$58,000

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
