Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for proper cleaning techniques and procedures to keep the offices, common areas, and conference rooms clean at the KUMC-Wichita campus. This position is also responsible for room set-up for meeting as well as cross training to be the backup for all areas of the campus.
Hours for this position will be 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM Monday thru Friday
Job Description:

Required Qualifications :

Education: High School diploma or GED

Work Experience: Housekeeping or custodial experience

Skills:

  • Cleaning, Sanitizing, Vacuuming, Extracting carpets, High Speed Buffing, Dusting, Cleaning Windows and Walls, Detail Work.
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, and practices used in housekeeping operations.
  • Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning chemicals for all the different types of applications.
  • Ability to perform specialized cleaning duties in sterile areas such as medical practice settings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 30 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to climb and work on/from ladders.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat and crawl to perform work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Specialized Custodial Training

Work Experience: 4 years commercial custodial work. Experience in a medical setting.

Skills:

  • Stripping and waxing floors
  • Shampooing carpets
  • Bonnet cleaning
  • Walk behind scrubber .
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers and the Facilities Management team.

Job Duties Outlined (basic/primary responsibilities ):

  • Dusts and spot clean all exposed desks, chairs, tables, filing cabinets, bookcases and shelves, offices, lobbies, corridors, conference rooms, bathrooms, and other assigned areas such as the clinic.
  • Replenishes paper supplies in restrooms and other rooms as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning and paper supplies.
  • Prepares room set-ups for meetings and other school functions.
  • Vacuums, high speed burnishing, stripping and waxing floors, shampoos carpeting and furniture as assigned.
  • Prints and posts classroom schedules every Friday for the following week.
  • Checks classrooms for proper room setup and makes resets if needed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes walls, fixtures, partitions, glass, mirrors, and refill dispensers daily or as requested
  • Empties trash & recycling, replaces container liners, remove trash & recycling to proper dumpster for disposal.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
