Position Objective

This is a part-time hourly position that is responsible for performing a variety of custodial tasks and assignments to maintain the health, appearance, and cleanliness standards of the college.
This position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302.

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)

Cleaning and general maintenance 

  • Maintaining cleanliness of floors, walls, ceilings, carpets, windows, and furniture using power equipment and hand implements to include, but not limited to, brooms, mops, squeegees, and vacuums.
Waste management
  •  Emptying wastebaskets, garbage, and trash containers. 
Maintain building security
  •  Checking for unlocked doors and unauthorized occupants. Closing and securing facilities for those areas not occupied by staff. 
  • Maintenance of building exterior area.
  • Performing outdoor work as required to keeping sidewalks, ashtrays driveway, trash containers, windows walls, and general outside appearance of buildings clean. 
Perform minor repairs 
  • Repairing or replacing items such as, but not limited to, light bulbs, tightening hinges and door plates, lubricating locks, replacing faucet washers and other related items, and performing minor painting. 
 Perform other duties as assigned
  • Including but not limited to cleaning whiteboards, dusting furniture, sweeping, mopping, and polishing.
  • Attending training and meetings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid First Aid/CPR training card within the first 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience as a custodian or general building maintenance.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle insurance, and safe driving record
  • Possess a current Washington State Boiler Operator's Permit
