Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 32-40 hours per week) Custodian position for the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University (OSU). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately one (1) year from the begin date with the potential for extension. This position is located in Blue River, Oregon at the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest.
This position supports the maintenance and operations of the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest (HJA) headquarters site near Blue River, Oregon. The HJA is an important research and education site for Oregon State University and the US Forest Service, including the Andrews Long-term Ecological Research Program. The custodian/office assistant performs custodial duties for all buildings and grounds at the Andrews headquarters and assists with front office duties.

Requirements :

• Experience performing routine janitorial or office assistant duties in a commercial, educational, or public environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the public and co-workers.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent  must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Type:

This position is based at a remote field station in the Western Cascades, 6 miles from the nearest town of Blue River, OR, and 50 miles from the nearest city. The nearest public bus stop is four miles from the station; the employee will be solely responsible for daily transportation to and from the site. The work schedule may vary depending on demand and may include occasional work on weekends when essential to prepare for a large group but will not exceed 40 hours in any week. In general, the employee will work during business hours Monday through Friday, with some scheduling flexibility.
