As a Temporary Custodian II, you will:
  • Perform routine cleaning and general upkeep of Panhandle Research and Extension Center (PREEC) in Scottsbluff, NE including offices, housing unit, hallways, meeting rooms, restrooms, common areas, and some lab areas.
  • Scrub, strip, refinish and polish floors using heavy industrial-type powered scrubbing and buffing machines.
  • Vacuum and clean carpets using industrial-type vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors.
  • Collect and dispose of refuse.
  • Perform light maintenance such as changing bulbs.
  • Assist with grounds-keeping and snow removal seasonally.
  • Maintain building security after business hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Some heavy lifting required. Normal working hours are 10:00am to 6:30pm although these may vary depending on building events, weather, or other needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Eighth grade education required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary.
  • Must have the ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios.
  • Ability to gain knowledge and skill to operate large cleaning equipment necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Previous custodial experience desirable including maintaining various flooring surfaces.
