The hours for this position are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm. Occasional weekend coverage (Sat/Sun)

The Recreation Department is seeking (1) Custodian II to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence!

Performs duties of custodial care for the University buildings and facilities.  The incumbent learns proper methods and procedures in performing custodial duties and becomes familiar with the campus at this training level.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

•   Maintains the appearance of the Recreational facility spaces that includes but not limited to offices, restrooms, activity spaces and furnishings by performing housekeeping duties, such as cleaning counters, equipment and furnishing, dusting, sweeping, and removing trash.
• ·         Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, surfaces, and trims. Cleans walls, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• ·         Sweeps, vacuums, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs and conditions floor that includes carpet, mats, terrazzo, wooden courts, and sport specific flooring such as mondo.
• ·         Restocks supply closets and restrooms.
• ·         Handle emergency clean-ups.
• ·         Sets up chairs, tables and other equipment in the Student Recreation Center, meeting rooms and other public areas as required.
• ·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting. Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings preferred.

·         Knowledge of custodial service practices, techniques, and procedures preferred.

·         Knowledge of the Georgia State University (GSU) campus, buildings and facilities, preferred.

·         Ability to perform heavy lifting when required (approximately 30- 50 lbs.).
