Description of Work Unit
To provide quality program, facilities, and services that promote a sense of community, support student development through leadership and employment opportunities, and encourage the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle to a diverse University population.
The position is has focus on High level dusting.
The Custodial area provides a clean, safe, healthy, environment, for Student Recreation Center
Position Summary
This position works 10:00 pm – 6:30 am with shift differential. This position provides a range of custodial services for Campus Recreation in the Student Recreation Center.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must show a minimum of six full-time months of custodial experience in a residential or commercial environment in the application document.

  • Experience providing custodial services in a commercial, academic, or athletic environment.
  • Experience operating and/or maintaining basic custodial equipment.
  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently to perform custodial tasks with very little supervision.
  • Work history that demonstrates reliability and responsibility.
  • Willingness to work hard, interest in great results, and enthusiasm for working on a team.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Directly related state service experience


Essential Job Duties


Job Duty Category Cleaning, Disinfecting, Maintenance, and Safety
Duty/Responsibility
This position provides a wide range of custodial services including but not limited to: 
* Cleaning and sanitizing locker rooms and restrooms 
* Removal of trash and recycle materials from building 
* Window glass cleaning using cleaners and squeegees 
* Carpeted and hard floor maintenance including: 
 * Vacuuming carpets 
 * Spot cleaning carpets and tile floors 
 * Extracting of carpeted floors 
 * Mopping all floor surfaces 
 * Deep scrubbing floors with chemical and buffers 
 * Auto scrubbing floors with riding auto-scrubber or walk behind auto-scrubber (this includes indoor track area) 
 * Burnishing floors with a polishing machine 
 * Stripping tile floor with a stripper and buffers 
 * Refinishing of hard surface floors using buffers, auto-scrubbers, square scrubs and vacuums (this includes the main gym and studio floors) 
* Clean and sanitize walls, counters, furniture and other surfaces, using disinfectant 
* Operate and maintain a variety of custodial equipment 
* Support for events and activities, provide access to facility as directed, landscaping and plant care, etc. 
* Wear personal protection while cleaning 
* Use genie lift to perform high dusting for ledges, art work, light fixtures, windows and fans
