Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 4am-12:30pm, 7am-3:30pm, 3:30-midnight


Job Summary: The Custodian performs routine manual work in housekeeping and cleaning of interior spaces and immediate exterior areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, polishes and dusts furniture, and cleans restrooms, windows, blinds, mirrors, etc. in buildings across campus.


Additional Department Summary: The Custodian performs routine manual work in housekeeping and cleaning of interior and exterior areas. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing, dusting furniture, cleaning restrooms, windows, blinds, and mirrors in academic, administrative and athletic buildings, as well as on campus living spaces.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job (up to 50lbs). Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to reach and lift arms above head. Must be able to kneel, bend or stoop. Must be comfortable working around pets. Must have the ability to use job-related tools, equipment and chemical supplies.

Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Preferred Qualifications: Prefer high school diploma or GED. Prefer valid U.S. driver's license, be at least 21 years of age, and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
