Job Summary/Basic Function
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces.
  • Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets.
  • Washes walls.
  • Cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures.
  • Cleans glass and mirrors.
  • Cleans and empties trash receptacles.
  • Cleans auditoriums and classrooms.
  • Assist in setting up for various activities.
  • Cleans offices and dressing rooms.
  • Cleans band room/practice rooms, steps and stairwells.
  • Cleans lobby, janitor and supply closets.
  • Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property.
  • Check in supplies.
  • Stocks supply closets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • On call 24/7
  • Furnish tools, materials, and supplies other workers.
  • Cleans work area, machines, and tools.
  • Assist various trades with routine duties.
  • Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair of equipment (i.e., light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, and appliances, electronically components of heating & cooling systems, fans, and radio).
  • Performs semi-skilled and skilled carpentry repairs (i.e., doors, locks, cabinets, chairs, desks, walls, windows, stairways, partitions).
  • Perform semi-skilled and skilled repair of plumbing equipment (i.e., water and steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fitting, plumbing fixtures, pumps, regulators, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks, bathtubs, heating and air conditioning.)
  • Assist in painting and/or perform minor painting and repair.
  • Inspect building and equipment for needed repairs.
  • Performs systematic & routine preventative maintenance.
  • Operates machine tools & welding equipment in making repairs to metal parts & equipment.
  • May work split shifts, second shift of third shift.
  • May encounter dirt, odors, high and low temperatures.
  • Serves as lead worker (i.e., provides work direction, and training of others) over lower level maintenance repair workers.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
