Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This is a professional position based in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health’s North Carolina Institute for Public Health (NCIPH). The temporary Training Developer will build continuing professional development (CPD) programming for public health professionals working at governmental public health agencies, primarily in North Carolina. CPD programs include multi-part curricula for online and hybrid formats as well as short trainings for both in-person and online delivery. Work involves collaboration with project directors, funding partners, and subject matter experts.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to work independently within a team-based structure to accomplish goals and objectives according to project timelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Prefer additional skills in the following technology: Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Articulate 360.
Working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design models required.
Prior experience in developing training content for continuing professional development, in particular developing content for online learning.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Masters in Public Health, or Education or certification in adult learning or similar. For candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities relevant to the position, relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution will be accepted.
Prefer previous experience in CPD for public health agencies or other similar professions and familiarity with CDC Quality Training Standards.
