Bolton & Menk has a great opportunity for a seasonal Cultural Resources Technician - Arcitectural Historian to join our team in Burnsville! This is a seasonal, no-benefits position April 2024 - December 2024.
What you will be doing:
- Assists architectural historian in surveys and other architectural historian investigation as directed.
- Ability to conduct research (state/local historical societies, archives, etc.).
- Responsible for producing clear and concise notes and documentation on work conducted.
- Assists with and/or develops cultural resources reports for review at the direction of senior cultural resources staff.
- Travel will be necessitated by project workload; out of town stays may be necessitated for extended periods.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology from an accredited college or university or a related field such as history, historic preservation, or public history from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 6 to 12 months of relevant experience (e.g., internships, volunteer work, classwork, etc.)
- Preferred experience in preparing building descriptions and historic contexts.
- Preferred experience conducting research and field surveys.
- Preferred knowledge of architectural styles and ability to "read" a building to identify features, style and estimated dates of construction.
- Preferred experience applying the National Register Criteria preparing statements of significance.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
