A Cultural Resources Technical Lead (hereafter Technical Lead) position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML). This position is located at Colorado State University’s (CSU) main campus in Fort Collins, Colorado. Telework arrangements may be considered but are subject to being modified or discontinued. As part of an interdisciplinary team of social and natural scientists, this position will provide cultural resources technical expertise to conduct analyses of climate change vulnerabilities of cultural resources. In addition, this position will assist with cultural resources management planning and advise on climate change adaptation strategies. These activities require collection and analysis of large amounts of supporting data and information from complex studies; preparation and review of required documents/reports; interfacing with multiple offices, specialists, and Subject-Matter-Experts. This position will be responsible for developing, reviewing and editing climate change reports and identifying relevant information for integration into Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans (ICRMPs). As such, excellent scientific synthesis, writing, and communication skills are required. The Technical Lead will provide technical expertise for the development and review of documents, including ICRMPs, National Environmental Policy Act analyses, climate change impact assessments and mitigation strategies, GIS data/maps, and other cultural resources-related documents. This position will collaborate with Department of Defense (DoD) cultural resources managers to review the goals, objectives, and projects in ICRMPs and develop recommendations that are both scientifically sound and guided by regulations or mission drivers. Therefore, an understanding of cultural resources management on military lands is a critical component of this position. This position will hire and supervise additional staff, as needed, to complete project requirements. This position will develop timelines to achieve project milestones, assign tasks, coordinate with other planning and climate assessment activities, and ensure that work is completed as required. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the QA/QC of all draft and final deliverables and submitting deliverables to Cooperative Agreement and project points of contact (POCs). Travel to military installations across the United States to conduct site visits and meet with clientele may be required.
