About the College

The Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication (MCCAMC) consist of six academic departments (Art, Cinema and Television Arts, Communication Studies, Journalism, Music and Theatre), offers Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in each; serves 5,000 undergraduate majors and 245 graduate students and employs about 480 faculty and staff. Major Duties

Under general supervision of Cinema and Television Arts (CTVA) Department Chair, the CTVA Equipment Room Coordinator oversees the process of signing out equipment to qualified students and the equipment's return. The incumbent keeps and maintains accurate inventory record of all equipment assigned to the CTVA Equipment Room; maintains the equipment inventory storage areas and keeps them orderly and safe; trains, schedules and oversees student assistants in the proper composition and operation of professional audio, video and multimedia equipment to be signed out for student projects in the Film, Television and Multimedia options; provides professional counseling on the equipment configurations required; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Equivalent to two (2) years of full-time journey-level, skilled, or semi-skilled experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of industrial or technical equipment, which includes extensive understanding of audio/video/lighting/remote production/cinematographical components and systems. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field or equivalent preferred. Two years of trade school or technical arts training within specialization may be substituted for one year or required experience. Experience in a media production environment at an academic institution or production equipment rental facility highly desired. Trade and industry certifications relevant to the job are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Working knowledge of cinema and television production, post-production and projection systems as well as basic electronic repair, design and troubleshooting of a variety of sophisticated film, television, audio and multimedia systems. Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in configuration, installation; maintenance, repair and operation of components and systems used in television, film, audio, and multimedia. Proficiency in asset reservation and management software (e.g., Web Checkout), Mac and PC systems hardware, common production and post-production software. Knowledge of and ability to maintain university procedures for purchasing procurement, asset management, human resources and asset security. Ability and specialized skills to: perform repair work as needed and to troubleshoot complex systems; train work study students on the proper composition and use of professional AV equipment; provide professional customer service counseling to student equipment users and faculty; understand the relationship between the department's facility/equipment/technical services and its pedagogy. Ability to obtain a California Driver's License to operate CSUN vehicles for equipment delivery and pickup preferred.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The university offers an excellent benefits package.
The salary range for this classification is: $3748 - $6204 per month.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3748- $5550, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 11:00am - 8:00pm, Monday through Friday.
REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
