Description of Work Unit
The Colorado State University (CSU) System, along with its partners, will stand up three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, animal health, and sustainability at the new Spur campus at the National Western Center (NWC). Within the Spur buildings, CSU will conduct research and convene experts from around the globe; students of all ages will engage with science and have opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health, and the careers available in these fields; and partners will join in programming the space and bring evolving content to the year-round campus. The CSU System is made up of CSU in Fort Collins, CSU Pueblo, CSU Global, and initiatives like Spur.
Position Summary
CSU Spur is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Education Team as the Educational Exhibits Coordinator. This individual will be part of a team designing programs that inspire life-long learners to tackle global problems around food, water, and health, and will play a key role in the future of educational offerings at a brand-new state-of-the art campus.
The Educational Exhibits Coordinator will support the CSU Spur vision and Education Team by coordinating the daily site operations and management of educational exhibits and educational spaces including digital displays, interactive kiosks, and static exhibits. This position will be responsible for helping develop, plan, and coordinate content for new and existing educational exhibits, resources, and educational facilities. The Educational Exhibits Coordinator will also help train and mentor staff and volunteers on all CSU Spur exhibits, develop programs for PreK-12 audiences that integrate exhibit content, and help manage and maintain building exhibits and lead their ongoing maintenance and care. This position will also support all educational program training, delivery, and promotion.
This role will include some evenings, weekends, and some travel.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience in office administration, exhibit design, museum studies, event logistics coordination, education, or a related field.
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience developing or integrating exhibits into nonformal educational programs and working with various stakeholders.
  • 1 year coordinating and/or managing projects and working with teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Preferred Job Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience developing or integrating exhibits into nonformal educational programs and working with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with program constituents in both Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading educational programs for various audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience using organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities in order to provide coordination and support for simultaneous projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities in urban and rural settings.
  • Ability to establish relationships through interpersonal skills and collaboration with program stakeholders (i.e., educators/teachers, volunteers, CSU Spur staff, etc.) to ensure the best visitor experience.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative by utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify solutions for customer or program challenges.
  • Ability to use exceptional verbal and written communication skills to prepare professional correspondence and present or explain information related to educational programs.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and composure to adjust, resolve, and overcome event and program challenges.
  • Familiarity with CSU System’s colleges and programs.

  • Develop desired educational outcomes for exhibits based on community needs and evaluation in partnership with Education Director and various internal and external content providers.
  • Utilize multiple modalities for engaging audiences in exhibits and on-site content.
  • Manage and maintain digital signage and displays including content creation and implementation.
  • Support content creation and design of new exhibits and interpretative educational materials.
  • Support ongoing maintenance and management of exhibits and educational spaces.
  • Create training documents and materials to help staff and volunteers learn exhibit content and utilize exhibits in educational programming.
  • Support the training of staff and volunteers in exhibit content and materials.
  • Support DEIJ and inclusive practices in exhibit design and on-site application of exhibits.
  • Support new staff training and onboarding.
  • Assist Education Director and Manager in budget tracking and purchasing.
  • Assist Education Director and Manager in developing tools to track and evaluate exhibit and educational programs and offerings.
  • Maintain exhibit evaluation tracking tools and systems.
  • Maintain professional contractor recordkeeping, including processing and submitting invoices and payment.
  • Support partnerships and program planning through meeting scheduling, notetaking, task assignment, and follow-up.
