JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Research Technician Level 1 position is available in the Department of Dermatology at the Penn State University College of Medicine.  Research in the Sara Stahley Lab (opening January 1st 2021) focuses on understanding the cell-cell interactions that establish collective cell polarity using the skin as a model system.  The candidate will be responsible for generating critical lab resources (plasmids, cell lines, etc.) and for carrying out experiments investigating cell adhesion and polarity (in vitro and in vivo approaches), leading to the generation of primary data for grant applications and manuscripts.  The candidate will utilize standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques and mammalian cell culture, as well as fluorescence microscopy. The candidate will be responsible for mouse colony maintenance and dissections of mouse embryonic and adult tissue dissections.  The candidate is also expected to maintain an organization system for lab supplies, reagents and resources. This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire.
