General Summary

The Creative Video Assistant will use digital multimedia (video, audio, and design) and production skills to create video content for the athletics department. This area of responsibility includes production of social media content and marketing materials along with some public relation activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Create quality, relevant, creative original content (GIFs, videos, graphics, etc.) for all platforms for all 19 intercollegiate sports; prioritize and execute the strategies. Create pieces to be used across multiple platforms, including but not limited to: social media platforms, in-venue, EMUEagles.com and recruiting initiatives.
 
Create compelling videos that tell Eastern stories that strengthen EMU’s brand loyalty, while enhancing the overall fan experience and engagement.
 
Manage content and plan specific, timely posts. 
 
Manage the inventory of video assets for use in a variety of projects, including features, banquets, anniversary celebrations and other university initiatives.
 
Conducts the necessary research to ensure that all interviews and shots are taken to fulfill story lines.
 
Works closely with Media Relations and Marketing teams to identify opportunities and create original projects in which video can be used to pitch stories, and shoots, edits, and produces b-roll packages for use by media outlets.
 
Maintains, transports, and understands how to operate broadcast equipment (camera, editing software, etc.).

Qualifications

A minimum of 2-3 years of completed coursework or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, public relations or related field is required. Candidate must be able to present a portfolio of prior work demonstrating required skills.
 
Experience with producing creative and captivating video content for various social and digital platforms is required.
 
Knowledge of video equipment and operation, including lighting, shooting, editing, and post-production work is required. 
 
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and to work efficiently on short deadlines is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowledge of other video programs is preferred.
 
Excellent organizational skills, work ethic, and detail-oriented approach are preferred.
 
Working knowledge of sports is preferred.
