Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Creative Content Designer for Football will work as a member of the Maryland Football staff, and be under the direct supervision of the Creative Director for Football with a dotted line to the Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy and Fan Experience. The Creative Content Designer for Football will create graphic design and social media content for the football program with the primary purpose of enhancing program visibility and student-athlete recruitment.
The Creative Content Designer for Football will manage a high volume of graphic design work with a primary focus on supporting the creative recruiting needs of the Maryland Football head coach and staff. The Creative Content Designer for Football assists in developing and implementing a football content calendar and collaborates with other external staff members to execute creative assets and content for our football digital platforms; coordinates design materials, presentations and creative support for recruiting visits and other aspects of the football program’s internal operations; serves as the football program’s internal day-to-day social media content creator with phone coverage of practices, workouts, team operations, and community service initiatives as well as assisting on Instagram Reels and Tik Tok content; assists with student-athlete photo shoots, photo selection, photo archiving and photo management; assists with special projects; recruits and oversees graphic design interns within the football program; serves as a liaison for the football program with other areas of the athletic department and the University; ensures compliance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University policies and procedures; performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience, and training.
Experience: 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in graphic design with a demonstrated understanding of design principles. 
  • Demonstrated professional experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and After Effects) as well as strong photography retouching skills (Photoshop or Lightroom) and copywriting skills. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Design portfolio demonstrating high level strategic design sensibilities and strong illustrative skills which translates to inspirational digital content and aids in student-athlete recruitment.
  • Ability to produce high volumes of graphics on deadline while maintaining a high quality of work. 
  • Demonstrated experience designing for social media platforms, including an understanding of both content marketing and visual storytelling. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve football program goals and within the defined constraints of our organizational brand standards. 
  • Ability to manage time independently and juggle multiple tasks and projects for different clients simultaneously.
  • Ability to be present on field and in the locker room during home and away games. 
  • Must have the ability to work non-traditional work hours/days (evenings, weekends and holidays) as well as seasonal travel.

  • Experience at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level . 
  • Proficiency in creating motion graphics.

Physical Demands
The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer, electronic and video equipment and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 30 pounds.
