Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Course Development Specailist! Working under the direction of the Director of Academic Success & Partnerships, the Course Development Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the creation of new course offerings for the Concurrent Enrollment program.  This includes the development of entirely new courses as well as the realignment of existing courses to accommodate updates in the curriculum, whether initiated by the university or mandated by the state.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • New Course Application Alignment and Evaluation: Facilitates the creation of new course offerings for the Concurrent Enrollment program. Evaluate each new course application, ensuring alignment between higher education and high school course titles and content. Collaborate with university departments, school districts, the Utah System of Higher Education, and the Utah State Board of Education to ensure alignment with state curriculum and regulations.
  • Realignment and Updating of Existing Courses: Collaborates application process with all stakeholders to ensure alignment with state curriculum and program regulations. This entails reviewing and updating all existing courses. Successful completion of these processes demands attention to detail, seamless coordination, and communication.
  • Guidance and Support: Provides expert guidance to faculty liaisons as they evaluate, answer, and submit the strands and standards for each aspect of the course. Course Development Specialist plays a key role in reviewing existing offerings to ensure they align with meaningful course pathways for students. This involves collaborating with program directors and coordinating with the University's Career and Technical Education team. 
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintains accurate records and follows through with updates as needed. Shadows and supports all aspects of the Academic Success and Partnerships processes and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Course Development Specialist assists with other team duties once primary responsibilities are fulfilled.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study; OR a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
