Scope of Job
To coordinate curriculum functions for medical school years 1 and 2.
Description of Duties
  • Communicates, coordinates and provides support to faculty and students for medical school years 1 and 2.
  • Ensures module course goals and objectives specified are accomplished in accordance with curriculum policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for submitting module lecture room reservations for years 1 and 2.
  • Arranges and attends module planning meetings, staff meetings and training sessions
  • Coordinates with faculty scheduled lecture dates in Pre-Clerkship modules (lectures, PBL and labs) and provides instructional support.
  • Assists with inputting Pre-Clerkship module course objectives, lecture titles, and faculty assignments in the medical education management platform.
  • Schedules individual module lectures, Problem Based Learning Sessions, assigned labs and exams.
  • Responsible for assisting faculty with the following: creating module content, entering grades and maintaining module Blackboard site, basic educational technology setup/assistance support and resources.
  • Collaborates with faculty to identify, research, and select appropriate facilities for lectures/program activities.
  • May assist with proctoring duties for module and lab exams.
  • Ensures and create grade book templates for each module assigned, confirms grade book calculations, and post grades in blackboard.
  • Prepares and analyzes grade reports submitted into the module blackboard and provides faculty with feedback on any issues/discrepancies.
  • Accesses and enters course and student information in the student information system.
  • Assists with NBME customized exams creation, implementation and management.
  • Supports office functions including cross-training to assist with other modules as a backup for key functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education
Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Education or in a related field.
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Education or in a related field.
Licenses/Certifications
None.
Required Experience
  • Three (3) years related experience, or
  • One (1) year of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Experience
Medical terminology experience and spelling aptitude.
Equipment
Use of standard office equipment. Should be competent in MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook Email, Microsoft Web Expression (or other web development software); experience with Blackboard and Access.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Ability to work in a fast-pace, ever-changing environment. Exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in an organized and detail-oriented manner.
