The Department of Endodontics at the School of DENTISTRY is one of the premier clinical training programs for endodontics in the country.  Our faculty, staff, and students have a teamwork approach to clinical care to ensure the patient has the best possible treatment experience.

The Department of Endodontics has an outstanding opportunity for a Counseling Services Coordinator. 

This position requires the ability to interact successfully with a diverse set of stakeholders, including but not limited to, faculty, affiliate faculty, graduate and predoctoral students, government agencies, dental professional agencies, private sector sponsors, and other departments within the University of Washington. The Counseling Services Coordinator must have excellent diplomatic, communication, and problem solving skills as well as the ability to focus on maintaining program specific accreditation requirements. The position also requires mastery of university systems, tools, timelines, and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate and assist with the vision and goals of the graduate and predoctoral endodontics programs to maintain and enhance their reputation.
• Provide academic support to the graduate endodontics students and the graduate program director.
• Manage the endodontics graduate program admissions process.
• Counsel graduate endodontics student applicants regarding their eligibility for admission, and inform potential applicants about program pre-requisites and admission requirements, including information for international students.
• Coordinate the applicant interviews.  Liaise with graduate school to solve application issues.
• Coordinate and maintain the graduate endodontics accreditation documentation.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary activities between other departments within the School of Dentistry and the university.
• Coordinate graduate student activities including:  travel to other sites for required courses, MSD Defense, mock boards, graduation, social events for alumni/department, visiting lecturer’s presentations, and program exit requirements.
• Plan the new graduate endodontics student orientation as well as update and assemble orientation materials with the help of the graduate program director.
• Advise predoctoral endodontics 2nd year clinical lab course students, clerkship 3rd year and 4th year dental students on their didactic and clinical endodontics courses by tracking daily progress, performance requirements, and clinical procedures and competencies completed.
• Assist the endodontics predoctoral program director to identify any students who may need additional guidance in the completion of the curriculum, ensuring that the endodontics educational requirements and competencies are met.
• Coordinate graduate endodontics course evaluations.  Meet with students as needed to review progress.
• Responsible for coordinating faculty and affiliate faculty schedule for graduate and predoctoral endodontics clinical sessions (17/week).
• Responsible for monitoring completion of required student, faculty and affiliate faculty general compliance trainings.
• Attend the graduate directors’ committee monthly meetings as needed.
• Create program publications including event programs, invitations, and newsletters.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors in basic science, social science or related field and two years experience in counseling students or equivalent combination of education and experience can substitute for degree.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
