Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Psychologist for the Rutgers Newark Counseling Center.
The Rutgers University – Newark Counseling Center provides a number of counseling and consultative services to enroll and eligible undergraduate and graduate students. We are also available to consult with faculty and staff about concerns they may have about their students.

Posting Summary

The Psychologist/Clinician will be reporting to the Director of the Counseling Center. The duties of the psychologist includes but not limited to the following;
- Provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and workshops/outreach/consultation for students, faculty, and staff.
- Conducts short term and longer term psychotherapy.
- Performs professional work that requires specialized knowledge in psychological assessment, trauma, and/or addictions to general knowledge of psychotherapy.
- Completes all administrative items in a timely and professional manner.
- Works with supervisory team to ensure training program is highly effective and growing.
- Designs, coordinates, and conducts trainings, workshops and outreach pertaining to mental health as needed.
- Serves on unit and university committees as appointed and assigned.
- Provides consultation and facilitates support for various campus-based partners.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Licensure/eligibility for licensure as a NJ Psychologist. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited program with interest and background working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary setting treating a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, and trauma; Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have advanced knowledge of the assessment, intervention, and treatment of a wide range of psychological diagnoses in order to provide excellent mental health care to our student community.
Must be licensed to practice as a psychologist in New Jersey or license-eligible. Will consider postdoctoral clinician seeking hours toward licensure. Will consider NJ licensed LCSW.
Clinician should have interest and expertise in working with diverse populations and providing clinical supervision.
Must be a well-trained clinician who has demonstrated training and employment experience in providing psychological assessment, diagnosis, and mental health treatment as well as providing time-limited individual and group therapy, on-call crisis intervention, supervision, and specialized skills or strong interest in one or more of the following areas: multicultural issues; LGBTQ health; post-traumatic stress (including sexual abuse, sexual assault); substance abuse; eating disorders.
Must be enthusiastically committed to presenting psychological perspectives in programs, training, and settings throughout the college community.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a university counseling center and/or working with young adults. Also seeking a clinician with expertise in one of the following areas: Trauma-informed care, multicultural competence, LGBTQ, Addictions, and/or time-limited treatment models. Ideal candidate will have proven success working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team.
