Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
University of the Pacific’s Benerd College is seeking a colleague for our Counseling and School Psychology programs. This colleague will primarily teach courses in the PsyD, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Professional Clinical Counselor programs.
The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of teaching, advising, research, leadership, service, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders. The position will be based at the Stockton Campus.
This is a nine-month appointment with the option to teach during the summer terms. This colleague will hold the rank of assistant or associate professor, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a tenure eligible position with eligibility for promotion to associate and/or full professor.
This colleague should be able to teach a variety of courses across our programs which may include courses in assessment, counseling, consultation, and human development. Additionally, the candidate will supervise and/or mentor counselors-in-training, participate in or chair doctoral dissertations, and support ongoing data collection for program improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with dissertation development, including serving as dissertation chair.

  • Demonstrated successful hybrid or online teaching experience.

  • Eligible for licensure as a psychologist and commitment to obtain state licensure if hired.

  • At least three years of experience as a practitioner in multiple clinical settings such as nonprofit, and/or community organizations or experience as a counselor, psychologist, or clinician working with individuals, children, and families in clinical or school settings.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially regarding working with students with diverse experiences and perspectives.

  • Demonstrated ability of effective teaching using multiple theoretical orientations.

  • Demonstrated ability conducting independent research.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensure as a psychologist in California.
