Position Summary
Responsible for delivering a consistent and polished positive patient experience, building relationships, and making patients comfortable from the moment they enter our clinic.
Serve as main liaison between Wash U’s Optometric network and the LASIK Surgery Center including Jared, Dr. Polk and Dr. Wexler.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming calls and manages leads meticulously.
  • Registers new cosmetic patients, assisting with form completion.
  • Reviews schedule for new cosmetic patients, updating when necessary.
  • Calls patients with appointment time reminder, obtaining financial information as needed.
  • Explains cosmetic/self-pay process to patients.
  • Educates guests on additional practice offerings and specials.
  • Assists with social media platforms.
  • Accurately relays messages in a timely fashion between patient and surgeon.
  • Responsible for reviewing before and after photos of cosmetic patients.
  • Maintain current email list and keep network up to date of any news or changes at the Center.
  • Organize training sessions for OD staff.
  • Attend Optometric events (even if on weekends) to promote the Wash U LASIK Center.
  • Organize and promote one to two CE events per year for ODs. Drs. Wexler and Polk will organize educational content.
  • Organize patient educational seminars.
  • Become certified on WaveLight Laser Systems and clinical diagnostic equipment.
  • Required to attend training.
  • Other duties as assigned


Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad understanding of cosmetic procedures: surgical and non-surgical treatments.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a customer service, hospitality, guest-oriented environment (preferably high-end spa, Plastic Surgeons office, country club, beauty industry, high-end retail).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and working knowledge of financial options.
  • EPIC software familiarity.
  • Understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of refraction and LASIK surgery including pre-op and post-op care.


Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with three years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.

Salary Range
$16.66 - $24.17 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
