  • JOB DUTIES

Description

The David Geffen School of Medicine, Department of Surgery is seeking to hire a full time CORE Residency Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Education, you would provide a wide range of diverse administrative support for surgery resident program. Duties include but not limited to: * Independently monitoring evaluations, certification, and internship verification of residents. * Resident recruitment. * Act as lead coordinator to the Core Surgery Training Coordinator. * Develop rotation and conference schedules. * Assist in maintaining the surgery website. * Database development and management. * Program accreditation, and special education projects as assigned. * Assist with credentialing residents to rotate on offsite. * Assist with CME and the Surgery newsletter. This position also functions as a liaison between all residents and the residency programs at UCLA and affiliated hospitals, health centers, and community physician practices. Pay Range: $24.28 – $48.04 Hourly

Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty, administrators, and others in a knowledgeable, confident, pleasant, and professional manner, include the ability to effectively function as a source of departmental authority regarding resident and student issues. * Demonstrated experience in a post-graduate medical education program environment, encompassing a thorough understanding of residency training program requirements. * Demonstrated budgeting and accounting skills to assign account numbers and maintain database systems to track funding sources. * Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to make group presentations. * Demonstrated ability to supervise and prioritize tasks for support staff, including management of special projects. * Demonstrated in-depth understanding of database management, word processing, and spreadsheet analysis. * Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in complex and sensitive situations. * Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel records, transcripts, and other information. * Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and the flexibility to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. * Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines within a demanding, fast-paced work environment. * Demonstrated ability to independently compose professional, succinct correspondence. * In-depth working knowledge of MS Access, including data manipulation and extraction, form design, and database development, Word, and Excel. * Ability to work some evenings and weekends. * Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate resident files. * Working knowledge of University policies and procedures. * Working knowledge of UCLA School of Medicine policies and procedures. * Working knowledge of California state medical licensure requirements, and visa and ECFMG regulations.
