Core Faculty, Industrial Organizational Psychology

The Core Faculty position in Industrial Organizational Psychology (IO Psych) Master of IO Psychology and Master of IO Psychology is integral to a dynamic and growing department. Operating under the general oversight of the Program Director, this role spans educational, research and administrative dimensions where time is divided based on departmental needs.

In an academic capacity, this position entails crafting course syllabi, delivering approved curricula on campus, ensuring alignment with course and program learning objectives, assessing students, chairing thesis committees, academic advising and continually refining the course content. Additionally, there's an emphasis on scholarly contributions to elevate the discipline of IO psychology.

There is also the opportunity for the core faculty member to contribute to university-wide initiatives and strategy, including committee work and faculty council.

Education/Experience:

• An earned terminal doctoral degree Psychology from an accredited university or a related discipline is preferred.
• At least three to five (3-5) years’ experience in university/college level teaching preferred.
• Demonstrated industry experience with a robust network in the Vancouver area, preferred.

Certifications/Licenses:

• CPHR and/or SHRM designation or candidate preferred.

Supervision:

• Will supervise students, practicum stakeholder relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Practicum Oversight: Supervises MAIOP/MIOP practicums, coordinates student applications, contracts, and evaluation cycle, and ensures regular engagement with site supervisors. Site visits as required. Coordinates current and prospective practicum sites, securing necessary agreements and ensuring they meet program requirements.
• Database Maintenance: Keeps up-to-date records of practicums, theses, and capstone projects.
• Training: Provide training on Time2Track, a practicum tracking tool, and guide students and supervisors.
• Academic Contribution: Chairs thesis dissertations occasionally, participates in department recruiting and admissions and maintains a scholarly agenda with presentations and publications.
• Service: Contributes to the university and the broader field through association involvement at various levels.
• Advising: Provides student guidance during designated office hours.
• Scholarship: Engages in scholarship, including primary or secondary research, conference presentations, etc.
• Faculty Council: Attends and participates in monthly faculty council meetings.
• Additional Duties: Undertakes other tasks as directed by the Program Director.

Work Environment (Physical Demands):  The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Salary is commensurate with academic rank: $80,000-$105,000 CAD
