ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT (IN-ENRL-IUINA)

Optimizing our enrollment mix is crucial to the long-term viability of IU Indianapolis. There are several factors that influence a student's college choice, persistence, graduation and success. The Division of Enrollment Management is comprised of staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Student Financial Services, Office of the Registrar, and Office for Veterans and Military personnel as well as other areas supporting student enrollment. The Division also oversees and provides insight for its enrollment operations for the Fort Wayne and Columbus campuses.

The copywriter within the admission office at IU Indianapolis will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling and persuasive content to attract prospective students and communicate the unique value propositions of the institution. The copywriter will be essential in shaping IU Indianapolis' brand identity and driving enrollment.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops engaging, informative, and persuasive content for various platforms including website copy, emails, brochures and printed materials, social media posts, and advertisements. 
  • Writes compelling narratives that highlight IU Indianapolis' mission, values, academic programs, extracurricular activities, campus life, and student achievements. 
  • Collaborates with marketing, admissions, and academic departments to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all channels. 
  • Crafts persuasive messaging to effectively communicate admission requirements, deadlines, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities. 
  • Tailors content to resonate with prospective students, parents, school counselors, and other stakeholders in the college search process. 
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of IU Indianapolis' brand identity through consistent messaging and storytelling. 
  • Ensures that all communications reflect IU Indianapolis' core values, diversity initiatives, and commitment to inclusivity. 
  • Reviews and edits copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar, and adherence to brand guidelines. 
  • Conducts thorough quality checks on all written materials to maintain a professional standard of excellence. 
  • Collaborates with graphic designer to integrate copy with visual elements for maximum impact.

General Responsibilities

  • Independently creates basic communications for print and e-distribution on behalf of department or functional area within department and in support of departmental goals and objectives; communications may be interdepartmental; staff, faculty, or student-focused; or external.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests and explains policies, procedures, and context of communications.
  • Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and creates communications coverage for relevant initiatives, events, and programs.
  • Prepares communications timelines and shares progress of communications toward relevant deadlines with manager, team members, and other relevant constituents.
  • Regularly monitors relevant social media and news sites; researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty.
  • Utilizes various communications software programs and delivers communications in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • 1 year of writing and/or editing. 
  • Experience in marketing and communicating within higher education, non-profit or related field.
  • CRM (Slate) experience 
  • Experience working in marketing and communications role(s) that support recruitment, enrollment management, and/or admissions activities.
  • Experience working successfully within a complex organization.

  • Ability to provide quick turnaround and updates for multiple requests while maintaining strong reputation of high-quality work.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. $45,000 - $50,000 per year based on experience.
