Job Description

The College of Health Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented, engaged professional to join us as a Coordinator of Student Engagement in the student services office.

Under administrative direction, this position will assist in developing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive plan for undergraduate student engagement focused on student retention and success. 

This position will foster student engagement, develop student leadership skills, coordinate student communication efforts, and develop a sense of identity and pride within the college, the campuses, and the community.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with other departments to further the mission and goals of the College and University, including but not limited to University Housing, the Office of Student Engagement, and Career and Professional Development Services to ensure a coordinated approach to student engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Coordinate with university partners to develop, promote, and run various events and workshops designed to support Engagement and Retention initiatives.
  • Conduct workshops and presentations for student success (i.e. time management, study skills, campus resources, financial literacy, student etiquette, academic probation, etc.).
  • Oversee the development and management of online student communications via student newsletters, message boards, student website, as well as occasional print media.
  • Work collaboratively with the college's marketing team to develop a set of goals and objectives for student communications, and to ensure a coordinated approach to student communications.
  • Develop and coordinate a comprehensive annual plan for the "Health Quarters" residential college student experience at the Downtown, Polytechnic, Tempe, and West campuses.
  • Assist in the development and execution of appropriate training and orientation for new and continuing student leaders.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and supervision of Residential College Student Leaders for the Downtown, Tempe and West campuses.
  • Assist in the execution of College & University-wide engagement programs such as ASU Academic Bowl, Welcome Week, Homecoming, Monthly Dean's Programming, etc.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of facilitation efforts for CHS 101 across the Downtown, Polytechnic, Tempe, and West campuses including building curriculum, teaching a class in the fall semester, and working with student facilitators.
  • Serves as liaison to academically related student clubs and organizations to help support student involvement in the college.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience planning, coordinating, and marketing collaborative student engagement events: preference given to academically focused events related undergraduate student and retention programs and events.
  • Experience facilitating first-year seminars (ASU 101), or other university level courses.
  • Experience giving presentations to a diverse population.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Experience working with students in health and health care related fields.
  • Experience managing newsletters and website content.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service in higher education.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience working with residential college communities.

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Ability to clearly communicate.
  • Use office equipment, i.e. printers, copiers, fax machines, telephones, calculator.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, may include/subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Use of software/computer equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Use an ASU or personal vehicle to travel to different campuses.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.

This position is eligible for Hybrid work.  This is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location.
