Job Description

The Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs seeks a customer-centric, energetic, detail-oriented team player to serve as the Coordinator for Outreach & Student Recruitment. The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering are agile, dynamic, and dedicated to continuous innovation, student success, faculty excellence, and cultivation of an environment that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
Under the supervision of the Coordinator Sr. of Outreach and Student Recruitment, the Coordinator coordinates activities and functions within the Fulton Schools Outreach & Student Recruitment team to increase the diversity and enrollment of students within the Fulton Schools of Engineering.

$42,000-$52,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Delivers on-campus recruitment presentations to prospective students and their families for the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering weekly.
  • Identifies, develops, and maintains working relationships with the university and community agencies for support as appropriate to work assignment.
  • Manage/advise an FSE Student lead Organization (Fulton Ambassadors)
  • Develops, modifies, and updates content for websites, newsletters, recruitment & yield communications, as needed to support unit objectives and initiatives.
  • Supports the development and facilitation of undergraduate recruitment webinars, workshops, meetings, or conferences with high impact on program and/or participants; monitors logistics, scheduling and participant communications as assigned.
  • Coordinates Outreach & Recruitment events on the ASU Tempe, Polytechnic, and West campuses including recruiting participants, managing registrations, communication to participants and volunteers, event scheduling, reserving appropriate space, and overseeing purchasing and prepping of materials.
  • Creates and manages student worker schedule; oversee student worker daily tasks and assignments; hires and trains new student workers; manages any performance or HR issues with student workers.
  • Maintains contact with key personnel of outside organizations and university departments essential to the delivery and execution of functions and programs.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and outside organizations.
  • Assists the Coordinator Senior of Outreach and Recruitment in managing all aspects of the Fulton Summer Academy (summer camps for ages 9th-12th grade.) This includes making reservations, managing counselors, communicating with parents, keeping accurate records, ensuring a safe environment.
  • When needed, Coordinator may be asked to travel domestically or internationally and performs some or all of the previously listed tasks during those trips.
  • Develops strong relationships with local Title 1 schools, STEM organization, and other local networks that can aid recruitment efforts through a variety of communication methods.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Experience executing and managing events.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering or STEM fields.
  • Experience handling multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, Peoplesoft, Workday, Stova, and Salesforce.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Evidence of competency and sensitivity to students of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to obtain ASU Authorized Driver certification.

Working Environment

  • Activities include extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a complex structured team.
  • This is an on-campus position that includes programs at the Tempe, Polytechnic, and West Valley Campus, as well as programs hosted virtually. The position is based on the ASU Tempe campus.
