Victim Assistance Coordinator provides non-emergency critical incident response intervention with students who experience victimization on all GSU campuses (Atlanta and Perimeter) in addition to providing outreach.  This student-centered support services role includes giving students appropriate support, supplying information and referrals to on- and off-campus resources as well as implementing ongoing follow-up and provides hospital accompaniment for students when needed. The Victim Assistance, Coordinator provides services and prevention strategies particularly in the areas of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment/assault and stalking and Atlanta and at all Perimeter College campuses as needed.  The Victim Assistance and Coordinator reports to the Senior Coordinator of Victim Assistance.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

Essential job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·      Provides in- person critical incident intervention including giving students appropriate support, supplying information and referrals to on- and off-campus resources as well as implementing ongoing follow-up and support.  Victim assistance services include assisting students in their preparation for court appearances and consulting with university departments (University Police, Legal Affairs, Health Services, Counseling Service, Office of the Dean of Students, University Housing and Student Health Clinics to ensure comprehensive and coordinated service delivery to all PC campuses and Atlanta campus as needed.

·      Provides consultation to faculty and staff on victim assistance issues including resources on- and off-campus, victim’s rights as well as compliance with state and federal mandates at Atlanta and all Perimeter College campuses.

·      Disseminates communication materials (print and web) that ensure institutional compliance with relevant federal regulations (Title IX and Campus SaVE Act)

·      Implements an ongoing assessment plan to measure student learning outcomes as well as to ensure institutional effectiveness and relevance of programmatic efforts regarding responses to and prevention of assault, battery, sexual harassment/assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

·      Works collaboratively with the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Testing Center, Student Health Promotion, Student Health Clinic and University Housing to develop and deliver in-service student and staff training in the areas of student victim assistance services and prevention strategies particularly in the areas of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment/assault and stalking and Atlanta and at all Perimeter College campuses as needed.

·      Works in partnership with various community social and legal agencies for the communities surrounding the Georgia Perimeter campuses.

·      Serves as primary designee for Senior Coordinator of Student Victim Assistance in crisis response related to victimization on all campuses.

·      May provide supervision to graduate students or students assistants.

Qualifications

: 

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Master's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Master's degree and one year of experience or a combination of education and experience delivering student support or advocacy service in a higher education or community health services.
