Position Description:

The Brandeis School of Law is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Marketing and Communications. The Coordinator is responsible for executing and managing the high-level strategic marketing vision for the School of Law and bringing innovative techniques to the position to further our brand; assisting in the development, implementation, and promotion of positive communication about the College, its clinics, initiatives, students, faculty, and alumni; and will gather and disseminate information to the news media; develop and implement public relations activities, direct content for digital and social media, and assist in coordinating other communications projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Brand, Marketing, and Communication Strategy

  • Implement the vision of the leadership team to grow, engage, and emphasize our audiences.
  • Write and edit content such as new, magazine, and website stories, fact sheets, social media posts, op-eds, some marketing and other content, as needed.
  • Write engaging marketing content for prospective students and alumni.  
  • Maintain contacts with UofL entities to develop potential content.
  • Work with and manage Communications Dept. staff to ensure communication deliverables.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategic plans to achieve desired results on time and within budget.
  • Monitor, measure, and report results of communications activities.
  • Manage and maintain Communications Dept. budget.
Direct External Communication
  • Pitch stories to news media, prioritizing media outlets as appropriate at the local, state, and national levels; schedule and set up media interviews with UofL sources; and accompany reporters to interviews while they are on campus.
  • Produce and supply content to university digital and social media channels.
  • Assist UofL Office of Communication & Marketing in maintaining its media database.
  • Ensure that content advances the UofL brand.
  • Maintain and update the School of Law's website.
Internal Communication

:

  • As needed, write, review, and edit content submitted for document design projects and work with departments to finalize copy prior to document layout.
  • Assist law school faculty, staff, and students with communications.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and provide feedback.
  • Contribute to the communications team projects with writing, editing and design input for newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, reports and other publications for internal and external audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University communications experience
  • Editorial or op-ed writing experience
  • Exp. with cloud-based media database & measurement systems (i.e. Cision, Meltwater, etc.)
  • Exp. with content management systems (i.e. Plone, WordPress, etc.)
  • Exp. with email marketing and social media marketing
COMPETENCIES:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must have proficient ability in web development and content management
  • Must have some familiarity with the Adobe creative suite, InDesign preferred
  • Must be able to formally plan and independently manage assigned projects
  • Ability to use common office machines (i.e., computers, copiers, phones, etc.)
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
